Ripple effects of reading and playing with your child

I have completed my bachelors degree in Psychology and Social Behavior from the University of California Irvine in 2009. In the years 2007, 2008, and 2009 I participated in a very unique program called HABLA with Dr. Mann. The premises of this program was to assist parents and caregivers in promoting positive interactions between children and their parents while enriching the child’s language skills. This program would follow the family for two consecutive years, starting when the child was two years of age. From having participated in this program I have learned and come to believe that parents and caregivers are the child’s first and most important teachers. Secondly, I have observed the importance of playing and reading to a child. Those activities enhance a child’s language and more importantly the relationship between the child and caregiver.
