Activity about diversity

I have been reading a few books about diversity for Boy 1.7. I have decided to start conversations about racial diversity with him after learning the importance to speak to children about our differences. My son loves reading books so they make it for an easy introduction of certain ideas I want to instill in his mind in an appropriate manner according to his age. After reviewing the books that he has already seen I pointed out to him the differences in the characters and we spoke about our relationships with people that do not look like us. I pointed out that it is healthy to be friends with people of different races and genders. We then decorated “dolls” of different races and genders. This is an ongoing conversation that is important to start an early age.
