Make gelatin and add blue food coloring. Place it sideways in the refrigerator and add the (water) toys to let it get the hard gelatin consistency. The green sand was made by blending the cereal with green food coloring. Once the gelatin is ready, add the cereal on the side later the animals. I had Girl 9mos play with her sensorial activity on top of a bed sheet that I no longer use to minimize the mess.
