Things that you should know about reading to your child:

  • Enhances the parent-child relationship
  • Stimulates their imagination
  • Stretches their view about everything! Learning, learning, learning
  • Helps develop language (there are so many ways to say everything and books will introduce and emphasize new language)
  • Better children’s attention span and their abilities to listen
  • Stimulates reading habits (how amazing it is to raise a child and adult that loves to read)
  • Assists on initiating or explaining difficult concepts (a book helped initiate the process of stopping my son from using a pacifier)
  • When to start? Start this positive habit when the child is an infant! I have always read to my children while they are having their milk first thing in the morning and right before going to bed. Now they love and look forward to it.
